Job Description

Electronics Engineer - Altium Meyer Scott Ref: VR/08153Location: St IvesSalary: £30 - £40K plus a considerable bonus after 12 monthsDue to a retirement our client is seeking to employ an Electronics Engineer with a strong emphasis on C-coding firmware of Microchip microcontrollers (PICs).The R&D group is responsible for all our new product development and individuals are tasked with new circuit design (Altium) and firmware coding. They are presently upgrading their firmware so there is a lot of coding updates to be done.It is a small close-nit team of four working together to get the job done.

  • Ability to write embedded C firmware for microcontrollers.
  • Microchip PIC programming.
  • EDA software experience (preferably Altium).
  • Electronic design for EMC (and other regulatory requirements).
  • Power and instrumentation electronic design.
  • Hands on electronic test equipment design and construction.
  • Troubleshooting and fault finding at board level.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft office, in particular Excel and writing complex macros in VBA.
  • Knowledge of comms protocols.
  • Having a small company background preferable, as more likely to be adaptable.
  • Some experience of automation/process engineering would be useful.
  • Supporting manufacturing with technical support
  • Organise and attend EMA external testing drive a program of continuous improvement within the group to deliver quality new products.
  • Key internal and external contacts will be distributors and marketing partners.
  • Measures of performance would be: On time delivery of firmware, on time delivery of circuit design and EMC compliance and test work.
  • It is a factory based job in St Ives 37.5hours per week 9-5pm (flextime available). Required skills
