Contract Mechanical Design Engineer - Special Purpose Machinery - Cambridge - at least 3 months (Rate: £40 - £50ph) Superb opportunity for a Contract Mechanical Engineer with excellent machine design skills to work for a high-technology manufacturing company developing complex, high-value special purpose machinery. The contract will be for at least 3 months with potential for further extension. This is a rapidly growing company with a bulging order book for their World-class products. The successful Contract Mechanical Design Engineers will join the R&D team developing the next generation of the companys highly specialised machinery, involving detailed design of systems themselves and sub-systems for manufacturing and assembly.Requirements of Contact Mechanical Design EngineerThis role is suitable for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with a solid background in CAD based mechanical design for high value, low volume complex electro-mechanical systems and instrumentation, ideally including gas/vacuum/pneumatic controls. Your likely background will have come from working in one or some of these sectors: Scientific Instruments, Semiconductor, Ceramics, Medical Devices, Healthcare systems, Pharmaceutical machinery, laboratory, industrial automation, instrumentation, environmental Instrumentation, Plasma Coatings, high vacuum systems, PECVD, CVD systems, etc)As Mechanical Design Engineer, your skills, experience and qualifications will need to include several of the following:Degree ( BEng or MEng ) in Mechanical Engineering or similar/equivalent qualification/experience3D CAD design experience (ideally ProE / Creo or Solidworks or similar)Knowledge of material science would be beneficialExperience developing complex assemblies, some hands-on assembly and testing experienceExperience in vacuum systems, pneumatics, gas systems or automation an advantage.Professional registration with a relevant Engineering body encouraged and preferred.PC literate (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc)Accurate, thorough, consistent, pro-active, assertive but definitely a team playerGood written and verbal communication skillsLocation: Cambridgeshire -commutable from Cambridge, Huntington, Peterborough, Bedford, Wellingborough, Newmarket, etc)TO APPLY: Send your CV to Adam at Vector Recruitment LtdKEYWORDS: Mechanical Design for Complex instrumentation. 3D CAD ( Solidworks , ProE or Creo ) Experience of high vacuum systems, pneumatics, gas systems, industrial automation systems, special purpose machinery.
