Job Description

Junior Buyer / Product Developer Home Textiles £25,000 - £35,000MerseysideWe are working exclusively with a boutique online retailer of home textiles based in Merseyside who now have an exciting opportunity for a Junior Buyer / Product Developer to join their team.Responsible for:

  • Planning and selecting a range of products
  • The buyer must consider factors when making purchasing decisions: customer demand, including price, quality and availability; market trends; financial budgets / margins.
Key Responsibilities
  • Full responsibility of range plans for buying categories.
  • Full responsibility liaising with suppliers on existing product ranges and new product development.
  • Source, develop, own, manage, review, appraise and improve product ranges in line with brand ambition and market trend.
  • Negotiating the best price and required spec with factories
  • Pricing strategy including competitor benchmarking.
  • Category review to ensure the product ranges are up to date; assess general stock refreshing categories with new lines in the market
  • Assessing sales on products within the category and highlighting slow moving lines.
  • Manage sample process from red seal etc, arrange shipments and log sample distribution.
  • Work closely with Quality Assurance to ensure product compliance to relevant safety and testing standards.
  • Plan and develop trade shows.
  • Look at alternative sourcing countries to support offering currently from China and India.
  • Far East travel - attending trade shows, visiting factories, etc
This role would suit an Assistant Buyer / Junior Product Developer who is seeking the next step.
