Job Description

Our client is looking for a Finance Controller Salary: £60,000 - £65,000 per annumIf you do not live in Southend-On-Sea you must have a drivers license.Purpose of the role:The position is responsible for maintaining the companys financial and operation integrity across all trading entities including month end processing, overseeing the purchase ledger function, and providing support to the junior members of the team.Responsibilities:

• Maintain the companys financial and operation integrity across all trading entities - ensuring that an appropriate & robust financial control environment is in place.
• Work closely with the FD, CEO, MD, and Board to develop and execute company strategies and plans - from both a short & long-term perspective.
• Support the annual budget process, development of longer-term plans, and the production of trading & cash forecasts.
• Together with the FD, oversee the companys cash & treasury position, including all global payment facilities. Analyse working capital requirements and the management of financing arrangements.
• Management of the core Finance function, including: Preparation of fit-for-purpose and accurate consolidated monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet, cash flow and detailed commentary/analysis. Preparation of robust and accurate individualtrading accounts for all Group entities. Efficient and accurate processing & approval of all key financial data, transactions & payments. Accurate and timely completion and/or review of all key B/S reconciliations. Completion & approval of all statutory returns& payments, including HMRC, VAT, and overseas GST.
• Day-to-day leadership of the Finance function - including developing, mentoring, and supporting the finance team, ensuring that the function is able to provide robust & value-added support to the wider business.
• Manage the audit process, and work with the companys auditors & advisors to manage the preparation of accurate annual statutory accounts [in the UK and overseas] and tax returns in all applicable territories.

Essential Skills:

• Fully qualified [CIMA/ACCA/ACA] with thorough experience of managing in a finance function.
• Recent, practical hands-on experience of all aspects of the month end accounting
• Ability to influence at all levels of the organisation - from the Board downwards, and to drive decision making.
• Strong excel, modelling skills & system skills, and an ability to analyse & interpret financial and commercial data, draw relevant conclusions, and to confidently make recommendations to the business and/or implement solutions.
• Extensive experience of business partnering, and a proactive approach to support & influence budget holders and the business to achieve goals.
• Strong interpersonal & communication skills, the ability to develop strong relationships, and be a real team player.

Desired Skills:

• Previous experience of operating within a retail business, a multi territory operation, or a high growth SME would be very beneficial.
• Experience with cross border stock movements and intercompany transactions.
