Main Duties:
  • Delivering an exceptional front-line clinical ultrasound service, ensuring clinical safety at all times.
  • Leading the regional team of sonographers and diagnostic imaging assistants, providing support, training, and development opportunities.
  • Acting as the line manager for clinical staff (Sonographers and Imaging Assistants), conducting appraisals and addressing day-to-day concerns.
  • Performing clinical assessments and inductions for new clinical staff, ensuring competencies and mandatory training requirements are met.
  • Supervising and mentoring staff undergoing formal ultrasound training and identifying training needs through audits.
  • Undertaking risk assessments, ensuring the safety of all staff, including pregnant team members.
  • Collaborating with other ultrasound leads, the operations team, and senior managers to support service development and continuity.
Requirements of the Regional Lead Sonographer:
  • MSc in Medical Ultrasoundor equivalent
  • A validHCPC RegistrationorRCT Registration
  • A fullUK Driving Licence(desirable)
  • An excellent knowledge of Ultrasound techniques
  • Demonstratable knowledge of the requirements of the Sonographers role regarding patient care, Health and Safety, and CPD
  • Exemplary inter-personal and written communication skills
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • The ability to remain calm when working at pace
  • The ability to maintain exceptional relationships with colleagues within a diverse, dynamic working environment
