Job Description

Job Title: Progress CoachLocation: Wath upon Dearne, Rotherham, S63Salary: £20,387 per annum (£18,662.74 pro-rata)Hours: 37 hours per week, 42 weeks per year.Length of the contract: PermanentGrafton Recruitment are now seeking to appoint a Progress Coach to our Public Sector Client based in Wath upon Dearne. The Progress Coach will support learners to recognise the importance attendance plays in making progress and assist learners to overcomebarriers to achieving both their personal and academic goals. The successful candidate will contribute to the personal development of learners by delivering pre-prepared personal development curriculum.Duties of the Progress Coach

  • Support learners to settle in and participate fully.
  • Deliver a centrally pre-prepared personal development curriculum which focuses on key themes learners are required to cover.
  • Promote and meaningfully monitor and chase learner attendance, liaising with learners and their parents/carers to understand reasons for non-attendance, supporting them to identify and remove barriers to good attendance and implementing support strategiesto ensure learners do not fall behind.
  • Contribute to the delivery of a centrally, pre-prepared personal development curriculum, which meets the needs of the vocational curriculum area and which focuses on key themes including: Equality and Diversity, Safeguarding, British Values, Digital Citizenship,E-safety and local context.
  • Work closely with curriculum teams to implement strategies to ensure students at risk (STaRs) receive the appropriate support and intervention to identify and remove barriers to learning.
  • Liaise with internal support teams and external agencies to ensure learners are signposted to appropriate, specialised and individuals support services as appropriate.
  • Encourage learner participation, including participation in social action projects, health and wellbeing activities, student voice activities, enrichment activities and work placements.
  • Carry out duties as a First Aider as and when required.
Experience Required
  • Previous experience of working with and/or supporting young people.
  • Previous experience of working within a college or secondary school setting.
  • General education to at least Level 2 in English & Maths.
  • General education to at least level 3 in a subject area.
  • A relevant teaching qualification or a relevant qualification in guidance or counselling is desirable though not essential.
  • A first aid qualification is desirable though not essential.
  • Team worker.
  • Flexible.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in an organised and methodical manner.
  • Ability to relate positively, confidently and sympathetically with young people from a range of backgrounds, differing abilities and levels of motivation.
  • Knowledge and understanding of pre and post 16 education and training.
  • Familiarity with computer applications such as Microsoft Office 365 and Google Suite of products.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Ability to work with sensitive information and to treat this confidentially in line with the requirements of the Data Protection Act.
