Job Description

National Accounts ManagerSouth Yorkshire - Hybrid£50,000 + PackageAt The Advocate Group, I am representing a dynamic and innovative company in the field of nutritional supplementation. They take pride in bridging the nutritionalgaps caused by modern diets and lifestyles while championing environmental sustainability.As a National Accounts Manager, you’re responsible for nurturing and strengthening relationships within their national account’s portfolio. You’ll also collaborate closely with the Head of National Accounts to drive sales growth and enhance profitability.In this fast-paced and results-driven role, you will provide exceptional customer service and strive to achieve our business goals.Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and present a comprehensive National Account Strategy for key accounts, ensuring alignment with the objectives of the Senior team.
  • Monitor performance against the established strategy.
  • Create an ambitious yet realistic annual budget aligned with the 3-year plan, seeking approval from the senior teAM.
  • Establish Joint Business Plans (JBPs) with national accounts to facilitate forward planning and momentum.
  • Collaborate closely with national account buyers to promote the company brand, ensuring optimal in-store presence and space.
  • Achieve monthly sales targets in accordance with the approved budget.
  • Propose a gross margin budget, subject to approval by the Head of National Accounts and Commercial Director.
  • Track costs efficiently and provide a monthly budget tracker to the finance department.
  • Deliver monthly gross margin percentage as per the approved budget.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key accounts, including Sainsburys, Waitrose, Ocado, TK Maxx, and WHSmith Travel.
  • Handle all customer administration tasks, such as processing new line forms, resolving invoice queries, managing promotions, and updating customer systems.
  • Identify and target potential new accounts suitable for the company’s product range.
Internal Management:
  • Finance: Process purchase orders (POs) and invoices, address payment queries, and provide sales figure information.
  • Marketing: Brief retailers on promotional activities as required.
  • Warehouse/Sales Admin: Assist with sales order and delivery inquiries.
  • Regulatory/Quality: Request Certificates of Analysis (CoA), technical information, and handle complaints feedback.
  • Packaging: Communicate any packaging updates to retailers as necessary.
  • Supply Chain: Generate accurate demand forecasts by SKU on a monthly basis for at least 12 months.
  • Manage all account management duties to meet budget objectives.
What you’ll need:
  • Demonstrated track record (3-5 years) in National Account Management within the FMCG industry.
  • Strong analytical abilities, particularly in dealing with major national retailers.
  • Successful experience in range reviews and implementing Customer Price Index (CPI) and Joint Business Plans (JBP).
  • Familiarity with Sage software is desirable but not essential.
  • Proficiency in using customer login portals, especially in the grocery sector, would be highly beneficial.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Excel, and PowerPoint.
