Job Description

Role overviewIn this newly created role, you will be the Health and Safety expert supporting both the Pricecheck office and warehouse across two sites. The successful candidate will be an ambassador in leading safety from the front, ensuring that we promote a proactiveapproach to always keeping our colleagues safe. At the same time, they will develop and maintain an efficient and effective environmental and facilities compliance process. You will use your knowledge and personable approach to build relationships across thebusiness and can advise and educate those around you.No two days will be the same so be prepared to get stuck in and move with the ever-changing variety and demand in workload.Business function : SupportDepartment : OperationsReports to : Operations DirectorJob type : Full time or Part time opportunities availableLocation : Covering 2 sites - Beighton S20 and Manvers S63How you will do it

  • Maintaining a safe, secure, and professional working environment across all locations.
  • Advising on overall compliance in matters of Health and Safety on site(s) in accordance with Company policy and relevant statutory provisions.
  • Support site teams and departments in the investigation and reporting of accidents and incidents as required ensuring any learning points are communicated.
  • Delivering H&S induction programmes for new warehouse employees.
  • Assist with the identification of H&S training needs for the company, source external training and deliver internal training.
  • Delivering and completing statutory notifications to HSE for incidents / accident reporting. Always ensure Contractor and Visitor safety when on site.
  • Deliver monthly and quarterly feedback directly to Directors.
  • Conduct HS&E inspections, safety tours and audits to identify gaps in procedures and to ensure that the company is meeting all legislative and system requirements. Improve H&S awareness of all staff and employees through communication, training and engagement.
  • Updating and reviewing method statements, risk assessments and safe systems of work.
  • Build relationships and liaise with operational and support management and establish continuous improvement within the organisation.
Essential requirements
  • Experience working in a similar role within a distribution / warehouse environment with a broad knowledge of Health and Safety.
  • Competent to carry out all necessary risk assessments and incident investigations.
  • Experience of developing and implementing health and safety management policies and systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office packages.
  • Ability to lead by/set a good example.
  • Ability to operate at pace under pressure, whilst not sacrificing quality and accuracy.
  • Numerical and analytical skills, with a high degree of attention to detail.
  • Professional attitude with commercial awareness and understanding the bigger picture.
Desirable requirements
  • NEBOSH general certificate, or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of compliance regulations for a FMCG warehouse e.g medical licencing, dangerous goods and plastic tax.
