Job Description

Assistant Quantity Surveyor - Social Housing£30K - £35K + BenefitsSouth/West YorkshireFull-time, permanent opportunityHere at Howells we have an exciting opportunity, working with a leading Social Housing refurbishment contractor, to recruit an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to work on High Rise refurbishment schemes in South and West Yorkshire.We are looking for a proven commercial professional with experience in social housing refurbishment programmes ideally with knowledge of high rise refurbishment schemes, with a comprehensive commercial understanding of subcontractor procurement and costmanagement, the CVR process as well as excellent client relationship skills.As the Assistant quantity Surveyor for our client, some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Control all expenditure
  • Assisting the commercial team
  • Updating the repairs system
  • Ensuring value for money & financial assessments
  • Manage day to day cost control & monitoring & reporting
  • Attend project & company related meetings
  • Ensure timely cash flow management
  • Maintain & develop professional relationships with clients & customers
  • Management of subcontract packages, placing orders, managing variations, agreeing accounts
  • Assist in completing monthly CVR and progress reports
  • Produce and agree external valuations to clients including management of the variation process
  • Key material procurement, and management of plant and preliminaries costs
Essential Quantity Surveyor Experience:
  • Degree or other technical qualification
  • Commercial/AQS experience with a main contractor
  • Strong commercial awareness
  • Proven track record delivering contracts on time and within budget
  • Contractual awareness
  • Negotiating, communication & presentation skills
  • Knowledge of Supply Chain management
  • RICS / CIOB qualification - Preferred
