Job Description

Pay: KS3 plus SENA Start Date: April 2021 Would you like to work as a Teaching Assistant in abrand new provision opening in Walmer If so, The Beacon is opening phase 1 of its newprovision based in Walmer. In the first instance this will be open to earlyyears classes and will be opening in April 2020. Moving on in the next coupleof years to an all-age provison (3-16 years) Hours are: 8:50 to 3:25 Monday to Friday, term timeonly plus five inset days (39 working weeks per year) Salary: KR3 £18,039 full time equivalent (£14,146pro-rata term time) plus £1,274 SENA per year. The successful candidate will have excellent EYFSpractice, either in an early years setting or school and have the knowledge andconfidence to working with SEN children that attend our school for learning,support and development. Closing Date: 03/03/2021 at 08:00 Interviews: TBC Information about the school We are an all-age school (3-19 years) offering 380pupils with complex needs, profound and severe learning difficulties andphysical and sensory impairments a wide range of educational experiences basedin Folkestone. We currently work across three sites: the main site is Park FarmRoad, Folkestone and a small 10 place satellite provision hosted by Castle HillPrimary School also in Folkestone and Beacon+ College for 19-25 year olds basedin the town centre. We have Phase 1 of a new satellite provision whichwill be based in Walmer, Deal opening soon and once fully completed willprovide education experiences for an additional 240 pupils. The Beacon has a strong cooperative ethos andculture, building on personalised learning to ensure all students thrive withinschool and beyond. Learning at The Beacon offers a child-centred needs ledcurriculum, which incorporates elements of the EY Foundation Stage, NationalCurriculum and external accreditation as appropriate, including Life Skills andSocial Skills. We will also continue to provide training andsupport for mainstream schools through the Specialist Teaching and LearningService team managed by the school. This team offers support, training,outreach advice and guidance to our mainstream colleagues. In addition, theBeacon has both conference and meeting facilities and regularly hostsnationally renowned speakers on its courses. The Beacon also hosts a MultiAgency Support Hub.This is one of four centres across the County that brings NHS colleagues,paediatricians, speech and occupational therapists, and nursing services,alongside childrens social services and portage colleagues into one cohesivecentre.
