Team InformationThe Speakers Office has 11 staff and the work they do ranges from ensuring that the business in the Chamber runs smoothly responding to Members, colleagues and public about points of procedure and the House of Commons; arranging events,outreach activities and maintaining international relations with other legislatures, as well as supporting the Speaker in his various roles as Chair of the House of Commons Commission, Speakers Committee on IPSA, Honorary Joint- President of CPA and BGIPU.The RoleDuring the pandemic the State Apartments (also called State Rooms) have not been used for functions. However, as business in the House is gradually resuming, the State Rooms will come available for functions, visits with dignitaries and events withMembers and House of Commons staff.We are now seeking to recruit a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual for an exciting role of Speakers State Apartment Manager. You will be a passionate and dynamic guest-focused front of house professional who pridesthem self on their ability to deliver extraordinary levels of customer service, attention to detail, discretion and provide creative solutions to enhance our visitor experience for a range of meetings and events in Speakers State Rooms.You will lead on theday-to-day management and facility maintenance of the State Rooms including ensuring guests are welcomed whether meeting the Speaker in a formal or informal capacity, events including banqueting are planned and delivered to high standards with correct protocolsand formalities in place. This role will be a key point of contact within the Speakers Office with the relevant operational knowledge to share with other colleagues in the House of Commons Service who provide a service to the State Rooms.The PersonTo be successfulin this role you will have the following skills/experience: Experience of organising and delivering service objectives and striving to improve the quality of service, taking account of diverse guest needs and requirements. Understanding of key protocols andworking knowledge of etiquette. Ability to create and maintain positive, professional and trusting working relationships with a wide range of people within and outside an organisation to help get business done.
