Job Description

Service Support Worker Wexham Park Hospital, Slough (SL2 4HL) Contract: Casual Hours (working as and when needed) Salary: £8.91 per hourThe British Red Cross are looking for motivated, committed and enthusiastic individuals to join our successful and expandingteam. The Home from Hospital service provides vulnerable people with a home from hospital transport, settlement & support service. The working hours are flexible to fit round you and your commitments and can incorporate whole days, mornings or afternoons.If you have other commitments in life (e.g. college, family, hobbies) then well work with you to be as flexible as possible around your other commitments. The service operates from Monday - Friday (11am - 7pm) and Weekends (12pm - 6pm), so hours worked wouldbe between these times. The scheme is service-user focused, helping to build confidence and to rebuild and sustain levels of independence. Typical activities include supporting with shopping and light domestic duties, as well as providing companionship, advice,guidance and advocacy. As a light-touch service we do not provide personal care or support with medication. Typically, you will spend up to two hours with each service user. The successful post holder will be required to work closely with the Service Coordinatorto transport and resettle service users; be the first responder to referrals; provide daily administrative assistance and assist in promoting the service within the hospital base. You will have excellent communication skills and an ability to deal with peoplein a sensitive yet professional manner. You will have experience of working with vulnerable people and a passion for making a positive difference in their lives. You will be able to use your initiative to work independently. You will be a full driving licenceholder (manual licence is essential) and will be confident in your driving skills (the role requires travel across Buckinghamshire County using the Red Cross vehicle). You will have a good knowledge of services provided by the NHS and Social Care. Say helloto the team...
