This is the job As a Regional Validation Surveyor/Manager for our Household Claims department, you will be working with the in-house Household claims teams dealing with a range of household building claims across multiple perils including, but not limited to, accidentaldamage, impact, escape of water, storm, flood, burst pipes and fire.The role is to manage a portfolio of household property claims within a geographical region through initial site claim validation inspection, determining policy liability, and agreeing/implementing settlement outcomes cost-effectively, fairly and efficientlywith exceptional customer service. You will handle a caseload of building claims from "cradle to grave" and ensure they are settled promptly, within the terms of the policy, and in-line with set claims philosophies and standards.You will also work closely with a small group of outsourced buildings claim validation suppliers to manage the performance of these supplier within your geographical region.Within your portfolio of property claims, you will be responsible for engaging with and ensuring key claims suppliers in claim performance is maintained in accordance with requirements, identifying and delivering continuous improvement, and implementingbest practice to achieve business objectives on costs control, process, quality, and customer service. What will I be doing

  • Working with the Head of Household Supply Chain to develop, manage and maintain buildings claim validation services and supplier best practice, processes, quality and spend control outcomes on household claims
  • Responsible for end-to-end performance management of a small group of allocated outsourced building validation services surveyor suppliers within a defined geographical area
  • Undertake a minimum of 12 buildings claim validation site visits and job management cases per week, including but not limited to visit report production, buildings reinstatement scope production, inspection evidence production, and the instruction of requiredinvestigation or fulfilment suppliers as necessary
  • Help drive adherence to supplier SLAs and delivery of industry leading customer satisfaction outcomes
  • Assist claim handling colleagues by acting as a subject matter expert referral point
  • Maintain commercial and market awareness of the household claims market
  • Provide periodical updates on all caseload activity and allocated suppliers
  • Identify potentially fraudulent or dishonest claim related behaviour and liaise with our specialist teams to ensure such claims are correctly reviewed and referred where necessary
  • Work collaboratively to develop technical strategies to control indemnity spend on claims, especially those involving challenging technical circumstances or multiple stakeholders
  • Liaise with claims colleagues and customers in the case of scope adjustments, Variation Orders and contribute to ensuring correct claims outcomes
  • Establish robust and detailed contingency plans to ensure suitable alternative options are available in the event of withdrawal of services/contract termination by an outsourced buildings claim validation supplier within your region
  • Carefully manage the off-boarding and WIP run off activity of buildings claim validation suppliers exiting the Household Supply Chain following the intimation of contract termination by either party
  • Responsible for end-to-end management of own caseload of buildings claim validation jobs. Provide timely notification of reserve movements and establish and embed best practice within the business.
  • Agree and raise policyholder and supplier claims payments within authority limit and ensuring appropriate reserves are held and periodically reviewed
  • Work collaboratively to develop technical strategies to control indemnity spend on buildings claims
  • Ensuring buildings claims are appropriately managed to satisfactory conclusion
What do I need Were looking for
  • A self-starter with a proven ability to solve problems and deliver results that add value
  • Thorough knowledge of the anatomy of domestic buildings and understanding of their defects/suitable repairs
  • Significant experience in managing escape of water and other wet peril buildings claim outcomes essential
  • Understanding of drying techniques in domestic building is essential Experience in the sourcing and performance management of household buildings claims suppliers is preferable
  • Stakeholder management skills with ability to build strong relationships & to influence in all directions
Education and Qualifications:
  • A relevant qualification (e.g. MCIOB, MRICS, CII Diploma/Advanced Diploma) and/or BDMA accreditation is preferred but not essential depending on experience
