Job Description

Regional Community Engagement and Accountability Adviser Location: UK Flexible Full time 35 hours per week Contract type: Fixed Term Contract (12 months with potential for extension) Salary: Circa £35,000 per annum, depending on experience (plus LondonWeighting Allowance at £3,344 if applicable)We have an exciting opportunity for a collaborative and insightful Community Engagement and Accountability professional to join the British Red Cross International team.What you will be doing In this unique role,you will provide high quality capacity building, technical support, and advice to Red Cross Movement partners to strengthen the inclusion of Community Engagement and Accountability (CEA) within country programmes and services. Reporting to the CEA Adviser,you will support the delivery of the CEA commitments and targets defined in the International Directorate strategy and lead the continuing adaptation and enhancement of the BRC hosted Community Engagement Hub to support the Red Cross Movement. As a subjectmatter expert, you will provide technical support to National Society counterparts within your aligned region (highly likely to be West and Central Africa) and BRCs in-country teams to ensure Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE) is integratedinto Covid-19 response activities. In this collaborative role, you will build and maintain strong linkages with the Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (PMEAL) team, for the practical implementation of the Core Humanitarian Standard(CHS). You will also partner with other advisers in the Performance and Accountability (P&A) Department, as well as liaise with relevant Country Teams and advisers within the Programmes and Partnerships (P&P) Department.What we are looking for With a significantunderstanding of community engagement and accountability, youll have a sound knowledge of good practices in performance and accountability including programme cycle management (PCM). Significant overseas experience in the humanitarian or development sectoris essential, coupled with practical field experience of designing and establishing beneficiary accountability tools and systems (including information management); and using participative approaches. You will have excellent interpersonal and communicationskills both written and spoken (French language skills required), in addition to experience with systems and processes in project management, managing against milestones, and coordinating complex projects with multiple stakeholders. The work of the International Directorate also includes humanitarian policyand advocacy activities and upholding and promoting International Humanitarian Law.
