A dynamic and forward thinking SEN school are looking for a Learning Support Assistant to support pupils with hearing impairments in their specialist unit.The RoleIn this role you will supporting 11 - 18 year old pupils who have a range of hearing needs across the school. The school are ideally looking for a learning support assistant who holds a BSL qualification (level 3 desirable) and a knowledge of Makaton asyou will be required to translate spoken language into BSL competently within a mainstream classroom.The school This SEN secondary school is based in Wandsworth and caters to students aged 11 to 18 and has a specialist deaf provision. The school offers a broad and balanced curriculum, where established core subject teaching is supported by a culturally rich arts andsports subjects. There is a strong devotion to the values of mutual respect and tolerance within a community that reflects and celebrates the social diversity of London. There is a dedicated and experienced leadership team in place at the school and thereare good opportunities for professional development for all staff.To apply you must have:
  • BSL / Makaton experience (BSL Level 3 is desirable)
  • Have strong English skills, be able to adapt spoken and written English to make materials accessible for Deaf students.
