Job Description

Start Date: September 2021 Pay: Kent Range 6 Specialist Teaching and Language Service (STLS)Based at Goldwyn School, Godinton Lane, GreatChart, Ashford, Kent TN23 3BT Required from: 1 September 2021 to 31 August 2022About the STLS: The Specialist Teaching and Learning Service isbased at Goldwyn School in Ashford. The Team is comprised of SpecialistTeachers with specialisms in Early Years, Cognition and Learning, SocialEmotional & Mental Health, Communication and Interaction, HearingImpairment and Visual Impairment. The Specialist Teaching and Learning Serviceaims to work with SENDCos and other professionals to provide high qualityadvice, support, information, training and outreach to mainstream pre-schoolsettings, schools and parents through the LIFT (Local Inclusion Forum Team)referral process. We work alongside pre-school settings, schools andother professionals in providing effective and co-ordinated support. Our aim isthat children and young people with Special Educational Needs can have theirlearning, physical, social and emotional needs met, so that they can be fullyincluded at school and make good educational progress. About the Role: Secondment opportunity for 1 year with thepossibility of an extension, subject to the agreement of all parties. We are looking for a passionate, friendly,motivated and organised person to improve outcomes of SEND children in Primaryand Secondary schools throughout the Ashford area. You will be highly motivated, enthusiastic, have agood sense of humour, be discrete and have the ability to work under pressure.The successful candidates will be able to work well in a team, be flexible, andhave an organised approach to their work. The ability to travel to meet therequirements of the role is essential - own car is essential. Key Duties and Responsibilities: To deliver clear sets of bespoke objectives andtargeted outcomes for individual cases through collaborative working with STLSTeachers and District Lead.To participate in and foster the learningexperiences provided for students by encouraging appropriate social behaviourand catering for their general welfare. To model specific interventions and approaches tosupporting high needs students with the overall aim of upskilling mainstreamstaff and embedding them in school practice.Build strong working relationships with ourpartners coaching and offering supervision support to school staff working withcomplex students.Act as a champion for vulnerable children enablingthem to overcome barriers, building emotional resilience and equipping themwith communication skills.Salary: This post is offered on a salary ofKent Range 6 (£20,997 - £22,918) pro rata (actual £17,084.62 per annum) and isfor 35 hours per week 39 weeks per year (term time only plus 5 staffdevelopment days).
