Job Description

We are seeking to appoint a Health and Safety Officer to oversee all aspects of Health and Safety at Fine Arts College.The post holder will be expected to be responsible for developing and promoting a positive health and safety culture at Fine Arts College.They will be responsible for the effective and efficient management of all health and safety matters, including policy implementation, monitoring and inspection, risk assessment and delivery of training.Tasks will typically include the following, althoughthe list is not exhaustive: To develop, review, evaluate, implement and manage the Colleges H&S policies and procedures, ensuring that these are appropriate for purpose and meet legislative requirements, and best practice. To ensure that the College has arobust and compliant approach to all H&S matters, with safe systems and processes in operation in accordance with risk control hierarchy methods. To ensure that H&S policies are adhered to across the College through regular audit, inspection and other monitoringmethods. To ensure that appropriate risk assessments are carried out across the College and to advise staff with risk assessment responsibilities. Maintain a central register of risk assessments and ensure regular review as required. Management of externalcontractors for Health and Safety visits To devise and deliver appropriate Health and Safety training for staff and pupils to meet the Colleges legal obligations. Where specialist external training is required, co-ordinate and manage this. To maintain H&Straining records and ensure that training is renewed as appropriate To investigate and record incidents, accidents and near-misses, and report as appropriate, for example file RIDDOR reports. To deliver H&S initiatives to staff, for example, deliver and monitorDSE programme. To provide H&S advice and guidance to staff and other users of the College, for example, contractors, visitors, parents and pupils as required. To oversee regular or ad hoc projects/events at the College that present higher risk to pupils andstaff, for example, college productions, performances or events, and work closely and collaboratively with staff overseeing such projects/events. To oversee H&S matters in connection with all pupil trip/excursions, sport, and Duke of Edinburgh activities.To manage the H&S budget as delegated. To meet with the Head of College regularly to review H&S matters, plans and policies. To assist the Financial Controller in all H&S issues relating to the Colleges capital development projects and repairs and annualmaintenance programme. To attend Health & Safety Committee meetings across Dukes Education To manage the College Health and Safety Working Group and its meetings To attend meetings of Governors any other meetings, if and when required, to report on H&S issues.To receive and manage external inspections from the Local Authority or other statutory bodies. Provide updates on all aspects of Health and Safety for the termly governors meetings. To carry out all administration associated with the role. To maintain CPDDaily patrols to ensure behaviour and crowd management of students in local area Daily Fire Checks Weekly Fire Tests Managing and overseeing Emergency Invacuationa and Evacuation drills Monthly Compliance checks To carry out any other reasonable ad hoc taskor request as directed by the Principal, Bursar, or other member of the Principals Leadership Team.Note: As the role evolves, other duties and responsibilities may be added to the remit of the post holder.Please also note, we do not have a licence to offersponsorship for visas for overseas applicants.
