Job Description

We are seeking to appoint a Head of Student Services Centre to join our innovative team and work within our high performing Academy. We are looking for a candidate to start as soon as possible, term time plus one week.About UsHarris City Academy CrystalPalace is a mixed Academy for 1,300 students aged 11-18, with a large sixth form of over 350 students. The Academy has three consecutive Outstanding judgments by Ofsted, with the most recent inspection in 2014 finding the Academy to be Outstanding in everyaspect. We are a consistently high performing school; in 2019, our progress 8 score was 0.61, 94% of our students achieved a 4+ in English and 86% in maths. Our motto, All Can Achieve encapsulates our vision that all members of the Academy community aresupported and encouraged to achieve their absolute potential.Main Areas of Responsibility To line manage and have professional accountability for the SSC Medical Needs Officer and Attendance Officer and to ensure the smooth running of the SSC and when necessarystep into these roles to support the smooth running of SSC; To ensure the medical needs policy is implemented, a robust first aid service is in place and accident reporting is rigorous working with the Medical Needs Officer; Ensure the Student Support Serviceteam ensure communications between home and school are excellent; Ensure students feel supported fully by the team in SSC; To line mange the Attendance officer and ensure registers are completed daily, first day calling/texting is carried out effectively;To oversee the off roll file and ensure this is fully compliant; Maintain the list of students with attendance below 90% and agree strategies to improve attendance with Attendance officer/ EWO; To check the weekly/half termly/termly/annual attendance reportsfor staff, ALT and Governors; To attend meetings with parents/carers to discuss poor attendance; To agree students that will be referred to LA to consider court action in liaison with the Principal; To maintain an efficient filing system of all student informationand files, including undertaking clerical duties such as maintaining and updating student files, data entry and data reporting; To carry out any other duties connected with student welfare as designated by the Vice Principal; Undertaking correspondence toparents and other organisations regarding attendance and student welfare Assisting in the maintenance of the Management Information System records; The collation and distribution of reports and lists required by the Academy Leadership team or teaching staff.To lead and oversee the work of the medical needs officer and ensure the Academy is fully compliant and ensuring all members of SSC are fully trained; To provide a First Aid service for the Academy, ensuring a member of trained staff is available at all times;To oversight the reporting of accidents including RIDDOR in liaison with the Health and Safety lead; To liaise effectively with the Academy Welfare Manager, Attendance officer, Behaviour and Exclusions manager and other staff;Qualifications & Experience SoundKnowledge of Microsoft software Knowledge of CMIS system for input and export of student data for students on the SEN profile. Knowledge of SEN / Medical needs Knowledge of the range of agencies that work with students and their families Training in childprotection and safeguarding procedures Basic knowledge of first aid; e.g. emergency first aid course Experience of working in an inner city educational establishment Experience of managing administration Experience in a similar role Experience of working withyoung people with learning needs Experience of working with young people with challenging behaviour Full working knowledge of relevant policies/codes of practice Understanding of principles of student development and learning processes Ability to plan effectiveactions for pupils at risk of underachieving Effective use of ICT Understanding of a range of welfare issues that may be effecting students and their families.Next StepsIf you have any questions about this opportunity, please contact us via e-mail, or callto arrange a conversation.Before applying, please download the Job Pack for full details on the job responsibilities and person specification.
