Job Description

On top of that youll be joining a 2020 Great Place to Work award-winning organisation.WaterAid UK has an ambitious new strategy to grow thesize of it programmes through restricted income - over the next five years WaterAid UK plans to grow its restricted income for its programmes by a minimum of 35%. It is expected that this growth will primarily come from institutional partnerships with someof the worlds leading bilateral development agencies, including DFID, USAID, SIDA and DEVCO. The organisation is therefore now at a turning pointing in its approach to institutional funding and is making significant investments into its capacity and capabilityto deliver growth. Within this context, the newly formed Institutional Funding and Partnerships Team is leading on the operationalisation of this new strategy as well as increasing the expertise and capability of the staff working on resource mobilisationand institutional partnership building.As our Head of Institutional Funding and Partnerships you will work across the organisation with your 20 strong team to help deliver a step change in WaterAids approach to identifying, securing and managing restrictedfunding in line with our programme ambition.The role will be permanent and there is likely to be significant travel involved to our international programmes. The role is envisaged as London based and full time but for the right candidate there can be flexibilityon this.The post holder can be located in the UK or in the below countries: South Africa, Zambia, Mozambique, Malawi, Madagascar, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Rwanda, Niger, Ghana, Burkina Faso and Kenya - subject to right to work eligibility in the respectivecountries. Availability for interview is required the week commencing 25/10/2021.In this role, you will lead on the delivery of the International Programmes Departments (IPD) restricted funding strategy as well as manage the InstitutionalFundraising and Partnerships Team in order to drive its approaches, outputs and performance to sharpen WaterAids competitive edge in institutional fundraising and achieve significantly improved success from funding applications to bilateral and multilateraldonors.Youll also: Responsible for effective restricted funding support across IPD Ensure timely and relevant restricted funding management information is provided to the IPD Senior Management Team (SMT) to support effective management decision-making andaction on restricted funding; Champion the teams collaboration with WaterAids other international members in maximising funding from across the federation and optimising benefits through most relevant distribution across our countries; Champion and supportthe teams collaboration with Strategic Partnerships non-institutional funding and new business teams, and with the Communications team, to maximise restricted funding from all sources and steer best placement; Represent IFP and restricted funding issueson IPD SMT Responsible for continuing to drive the necessary changes in WaterAid UK to improve our approach to securing and managing restricted funding, as laid out in the IPD restricted funding strategy Deliver the Cost Recovery Project in collaboration withFinance Champion and steer proactive engagement with institutional donors in their markets and in all our countries, to establish and consolidate strategic partnerships with high volume funding returns and significant influencing benefits. Ensure effectivedevolution of contract management across IPD Champion the teams collaboration with other parts of the International Programme Department to increase the countries absorptive and delivery capacity for higher volumes and greater complexity of funding, andsteer countries to integrate strategic and competitive fundraising with quality programmes.To be successful, youll need: Degree level education (or equivalent experience): has successful track record in achieving multi-million income targets from institutionalsources, with experience of strategic development and delivering significant income growth in the UK. Previous experience of working within a matrix environment, with demonstrable ability to work in collaboration with other strategic leaders. Experience offundraising from DFID, EU, UN and other institutional donors. Focused on the external environment with excellent knowledge and understanding of institutional donor trends; ability to translate best practice into team operations. Demonstrable experience inmanaging successful commercial bids and tenders (from end to end) and working within consortia partnerships. Experience in managing and coaching team members, empowering others to operate at their best. Demonstrable experience of managing million £ budgets- able to plan strategically to ensure best use of funds and team resources. Knowledgeable regarding cost recovery mechanisms and able to work collaboratively with others to ensure the best solutions Innovative, resilient and self-motivated with a drive toachieve results. Ability to manage and develop professional working relationships and influence across diverse cultures and at senior level, both internally and externally. Ability to negotiate challenging situations to achieve goals and meet deadlines. Abilityto think creatively and strategically, to analyse complex information and prepare proposals and strategy documents. Able to make sound decisions and judgments in ambiguous or challenging situationsSalary:The London based salary for this role is £62,000 to£68,800 subject to experience with excellent benefits. Salaries and benefits for different countries will vary in line with WaterAids country/regional salary scales.
