Are you happiest outdoors in the garden Are you a compassionate and patient individual Would you like to support people to learn gardening skills within the Dudley community If the answer is yes then Creative Support have a fantastic opportunity for you in Dudley, West Midlands!At our Garden Pathways Service in Dudley we are looking for a "green fingered" Garden Pathways Mentor to develop and empower the people who use our service to gain valuable basic gardening skills, such as mowing, weeding and hedge trimming. As a Garden Pathways Mentor, you will be teaching people with learning disabilities, mental health, ASD and barriers to employment in a fun environment, with a supporting and enthusiastic team around you. Being part of a team will be a big part of your role however sometimes you will be working on your own, so adaptability is a must. You will be working on DMBC tenant gardens so we would be looking for someone who has good communication skills. You will also be completing paper work daily so computer literacy is required.Your role will include: Working alongside our Senior Project Worker in mentoring individuals with support needs to deliver a community gardening and employment focussed training programme, Coaching trainees in how to maintain gardens for vulnerable people, Supporting trainees to achieve individualised goals to further their skills and aid future employment opportunities, To develop and sustain warm and trusting relationships with trainees, Full time hours (37.5 hours per week), 9am - 5pm weekdays.For the role of Garden Pathways Mentor, gardening skills and experience and a passion for helping people aspire and achieve employability prospects is essential. Possession of Level 1 horticulture qualification is also an essential requirement for this role.
