Be the first point of contact for those seeking support around employment and skillsSkills & Participation within the Childrens Services Department, at Hampshire County Council has a strategic and operational responsibility for Post-16 Participation;Careers & Employability; Hampshire Outdoors; and Adult & Community Learning.We provide a range of direct delivery and sub-contracted learning programmes, including Apprenticeships and Traineeships, all with the aspiration of supporting young people and adultsin Hampshire to progress successfully in education (including further and higher education), training and employment.We are seeking to recruit two professional, motivated, and enthusiastic Employment & Skills Advisers to join our Employment and Skills HubTeam. The role will involve engaging with employers of all sizes to support them in providing opportunities for young people in Hampshire, through work experience (face to face and virtual) and careers interventions. We work primarily on behalf of school andcollege students, young people attending our Traineeship, Supported Internship Scheme and our ESF funded STEP programmes. We also work closely with T level providers and our local SEND provision.In the current context this role will provide important additionalsupport for employers workforce planning in response to COVID-19 and create valuable new opportunities for young people whilst helping employers to develop their workforce and reduce skills gaps alongside our colleagues in the Apprenticeship Hub. The rolewill include carrying out health and safety checks on employer premises, managing our Employment and Skills Plans, which are linked to local construction projects across Hampshire and the IOW, working across the Hub to link with projects, including TechnicalConstruction Skills, Apprenticeship and Skills project and the Kickstart Scheme. The Employment and Skills Adviser will also be involved in partnership working across Hampshire with specific links to our District and Borough Councils. They will also supportour communications strategy by attending events and supporting the creation of content for our websites and social media channels.You will need to have the ability to build positive relationships with employers and stakeholders from a range of industries anddemonstrate strong persuasion and negotiation skills. Previous experience working in an employer-facing brokerage role as well as with stakeholders, further education colleges, training providers and hard to reach groups will be beneficial.
