Job Description

Dakota Hotel based in South Queensferry are seeking an experienced payroll professional for the role of Assistant Payroll Manager. Alongside the Payroll and Accounts Manager you will carry out the weekly and monthly payroll for our hotel group of circa 650employees.Our location is easily accessible by train (15min walk from Dalmeny Train Station) and bus (frequent stops at Ferrymuir Retail Park). We also offer complimentary parking for both employees and guests.CONTRACT AND PAY RATEThe gross annual salary is £24,000. The role carries a permanent contract of a minimum of 30 hours per week working Monday to Friday from 8am or 9am, start time can be discussed dependant on candidate requirements. We attract hard-working individuals who are passionate about working to the highest standards.PRIMARY ROLE RESPONSIBILITIESReporting to the Payroll and Accounts Manager, be responsible for carrying out the processing and administering weekly and monthly payroll runs for the group including:

  • Running the starters & leavers report, adding new starters to the system.
  • Maintaining the accuracy of information held on the payroll system.
  • Run the payroll for weekly & monthly paid employees including salary deductions & wage advancements.
  • Updating any student loan/tax code changes as issued by HMRC.#
  • Registering eligible individuals to the pension programme and upload and process all pension payments through our pension providers.
  • Processing/paying bonuses an ad-hoc incentives.
  • Processing leavers including calculating final holiday pay and preparing P45s.
  • Submitting weekly/monthly RTI to HMRC and monthly EPS to HMRC.
  • Collating & processing payments for training that are compliant with National Minimum Wage.
  • Completing year end payroll process including issuing of P60s.
  • Ensuring Working Time Directive and National Minimum Wage compliance.
  • Answering any payroll & pension queries.
APPLICANT REQUIREMENTSThe successful applicant will have/be:
  • At least 2 years experience in a payroll role. (Essential)
  • Experience working in a hospitality setting. (Desired)
  • An in-depth knowledge of HMRC guidelines and wage laws.
  • Experience in the use of Sage.
  • Knowledgeable in all Microsoft Office programs and be advanced at using Excel.
  • A strong and driven numerically minded individual who is able to work at pace.
  • A proactive individual who is goal orientated and a problem solver.
  • An enthusiastic individual who will promote our culture of positivity.
  • Be task oriented with a great pride for the work they do and attention to detail.
  • Successful candidates must demonstrate having researched our brand and a genuine desire to be part of our team.
