Job Description

The AP Assistant will support the Group AP department.Client DetailsThis is a really exciting opportunity to work for our client who are a well known British retailer who were first established in the 1850s.Description

  • Process of high-volume stock and non-stock purchase invoices and credit notes, including utilisation of the company purchase order system to ensure authorisation of all invoices and expenditure
  • Generate bulk and individual supplier payment runs
  • Maintain the supplier ledger, ensuring all accounts are up to date and reconciled monthly
  • Professional and transparent communication with suppliers and internal relationship managers
  • Generate accurate payment schedules and ensure a timely and transparent supplier settlement process
  • Ensure that a robust control environment is adhered to and recommend improvements to financial systems and process
  • Support the wider UK, US and Canada Finance teams with administration and ad hoc duties (including reporting, planning and cost control) as required

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organisation and time management skills and the ability to prioritise workload
  • High numeracy skills and careful attention to detail
  • Effective problem-solving skills, a creative and proactive approach
  • Able to work as part of a team, collaborate and build strong working relationships
  • Able to lead and motivate team members including effectively delegating and managing team workload
  • Proven IT skills, highly proficient in Excel and Microsoft office skills
  • The ability to work autonomously, and diligently identify anomalies and variances to expectation
Desirable skills
  • Financial experience gained in a retail and fashion business environment would be highly desirable
  • Accounts payable and transactional reconciliation experience
