Job Description

Transport Planner - BirminghamMy client is a leading UK logistics company, specialising in next-day and same-day delivery of air and sea freight, and the distribution of heavy and dangerous consignments within the UK. They are currently looking for a transport planner for their Birminghamdepot, to assist in organising, directing, and coordinating the activities of all drivers, and the resources necessary for the safe, efficient, and economic movement of freight through their distribution system. This role involves working with the transportand warehouse teams, providing efficient management of the depot. In addition, quoting nationally and handling bookings via the Haulier Exchange platform, maximising revenue for the company.Duties and Responsibilities

  • Answering inbound telephone calls quickly and efficiently.
  • Reporting directly to the operations manager and depot manager.
  • Receiving telephone and email instructions from clients and recording relevant details accurately on the Companys data management system.
  • Maintaining customer service levels at the highest standard by ensuring a rapid response to their requirements.
  • Dealing with telephone inquiries from drivers and customers quickly and efficiently.
  • Identifying needs and establishing client requirements.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve the service and reporting these to the Operations Manager.
  • Ensuring that the service provided meets objectives and quality standards of the Company.
  • Planning all drivers and vehicles.
  • Ensuring that regulations regarding hours of work, the operational safety and efficiency of company and vehicles, and other statutory regulations are complied with.
  • Daily Driver debriefing.
  • Assisting when required in the induction and appropriate training of employees.
  • Monitoring the Same day mailbox & quoting nationally, following the process through to secure the booking, liaise, and forward all information to the handling depot.
Experience & Qualifications
  • Experience in same day/next day deliveries.
  • Experience with client and Driver support.
  • Good working knowledge of the Haulier Exchange Platform
  • Experience quoting nationally from small vans to full loads.
  • Knowledge of route planning manually.
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle capacity / load requirements.
  • Working knowledge of EU Driver hours Regulations
  • Knowledge of Aviation Security.
  • Ability to work under pressure in busy fast-paced environment.
  • Highly organised and excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to proactively develop clients through dynamic pricing.
