Job Description

HMV is the UKs leading specialist retailer of music, film, pop culture and technology products. With over 100 stores around the country, our heritage is synonymous with the development of British popular music and culture. Last year we celebrated our 100thbirthday!We have a great opportunity for a Property Accountant to join the finance team in the Solihull office. The role will be responsible for ensuring hmv property costs are accounted for correctly, including balance sheet reconciliaitons, budgets/forecasts are prepared and invoices are paid within timescales.This role reports to the Finanical Accountant. Key aspects of the role will include:

  • Responsibility for the accurate recording of property costs for approximately 120 hmv properties.
  • Review of store and sales related costs
  • Preparing budgets and forecasts including variance analysis.
  • Preparing balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Ensuring that the various rent, rates and service charge invoices are paid for and coded correctly within agreed timeframes and posted to the CODA finance system.
  • Liaising with Landlords, managing agents and 3rd parties in a professional manner.
  • Assist with the year end audit of property costs, preparing schedules as required.
  • Administration as required.
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:
  • Good IT skills, including MS Excel.
  • AAT finalist/Qualified, early stage CIMA/ACCA or qualified by experience.
  • Excellent communication skills for dealing with both internal and external customers.
  • Possess the ability to work under pressure at all times.
  • Be able to work to tight deadlines.
  • Be an excellent team player and possess a flexible approach
  • Preferably with experience in property accounting but not essential
