Through our purpose of Redefining Packaging for a Changing World and our Now and Next sustainability strategy, we are committed to leading the transition to the circular economy, while delivering more circular solutions for our customers and wider society - replacing problem plastics, taking carbon out of supply chainsand providing innovative recycling solutions.About the roleDS Smith have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Project Control Manager / Project Management Officer (PMO) to work as part of the UK Central Engineering Team.This important role within DS Smith facilitates the delivery of the UK capital investment portfolio and is responsible for the project controls and governance processes relating to the management of a significant budget and reporting to the Head of Engineering.The role holder will be responsible for project control management relating to major capital investment and major non-routine maintenance and will also be responsible for the capital application process, the management and reporting of capital spend, and willwork closely with finance, HR, supply chain and procurement.The Project Controls Manager works alongside lead engineers, discipline specialists and project managers to ensure adherence to corporate policies, monitoring and reporting on project delivery performance and sets, monitors and reports on the governancestandards and management practices for each project. Project Controls is responsible for coordinating compliance assessment across the full portfolio of DS Smith Packaging UK sites in line with company policies, SOPs, Environmental, Health, Safety and Risk,and other regulatory obligations. Responsible for ensuring all stages of the project lifecycle, from initiating and scoping the project, through to closure, final learning from experience and analytical analysis of overall project performance.You will be an individual who can manage our stakeholders, influence change through new ways of working and improve our current processes through the communication of information in formats that assist effective management and decision making.About you Minimum requirements:

  • Project management - PRINCE2 Practitioner and/or APM PMQ
  • Strong financial management and commercial awareness
  • Expertise in developing and implementing project controls and governance
  • Proven leader and influencer, able to communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders
  • Comfortable allocating resource, building, coaching, and developing teams
Preferred requirements:
  • Demonstrable relevant experience (5 years +)
  • Experience of using EPPM Plan View software
  • Highly experienced having held a similar position, preferably within FMCG / manufacturing industry within large, multi-site, multi-national organisations
