Job Description Lifecycle Engineer - Product SupportLocation: Solihull or DerbyWork Pattern: Full TimeA new exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lifecycle Engineer to join our facilities of excellence in either Derby or Solihull.The Lifecycle Engineer will provide world-class technical support for in-service/delivered products and to influence maturity throughout the product life cycle to meet customer and business needs, ensuring Design Intent is met.Join us and well provide an environment where you can be yourself. And an inclusive, culture that gives you a platform for continuous learning, and an incredible breadth and depth of opportunities to grow your career.The role provides technical support for in-service mechanical and electrical system products primarily across the Trent engine family including air, oil, fuel and electrical Line Replaceable Units (LRUs). This highly challenging and interesting role providesopportunities for ownership of customer operational issues and to act as the customer technical interface.At Rolls-Royce, we pioneer the power that matters to our customers, to society and to the planet.The successful applicant will work closely with specialist engineering areas such as Safety and Reliability, Performance, Fluid Systems, Materials and Stress gaining an insight into the operation of these disciplines. As the customer engineering interface,you will work with Operators, Partners, Airframer, Regulatory Authorities and Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul facilities to provide product technical support for the in-service operation.We deliver the best jet engines in the world. We encourage flexible working arrangements and support hybrid working wherever possible, so you can always be at your best - wherever and whenever you work.What youll be doing:Your responsibility is to ensure the safe, reliable and cost-effective product attributes are defined and maintained by means of through life modelling of product reliability, deterioration mechanisms, costs and help implement robust & cost effective solutions.

  • Management of known and potential safety issues (Safety Alert Report & Red Top).
  • Ensure compliance with requirements specified by regulatory authorities and to adhere to technical and business requirements of internal & external stakeholders.
  • Identify, investigate and resolve in-service technical issues (e.g. queries and operational arisings), leading the investigation of operational issues to establish root cause, introduction of containment/corrective actions whilst also influencing new productdesign with in-service experience.
  • Predict future safety and reliability performance based on failure rates, adopting statistical techniques to support Numerical Risk Assessment, Parametric Distribution and fly forward analysis.
  • Prepare and deliver technical communications (e.g. presentation and/or reports) to platform provider, regulators, customers and internal stakeholders.

  • Educated to degree level in a STEM subject and/ or have experience in a relevant engineering environment (Mechanical, Aeronautical, Electrical or Controls). Other qualifications, in combination with relevant experience, may also be considered.
  • Familiarity of the in-service operation environment, including large civil aerospace engine products and regulatory / compliance requirements would be advantageous.
  • Candidates should be highly numerate with strong technical and analytical skills, problem-solving ability and capable of systems level thinking, including personal drive, excellent communication and presentation skills, and will need to contribute effectivelyin a team environment.
  • You will be able to demonstrate a high level of customer focus as well as good business awareness and clear understanding of process improvement principles. You will also be expected to take the lead in investigations, supporting / leading cross-functionalteams (e.g. specialists, suppliers, customers, partners), specifying / executing packages of work and support LRU hardware inspections as required.
