Job Description

Head of Software Engineering and Architecture - Meriden - GBP up to £85,000This is an amazing opportunity to start an exciting role in a rapidly-growing software company!This role is mainly remote and requires you to come into the office once a week in Meriden.You will lead, and work directly with, a number of the sprint teams, driving design and architecture transitions for multiple product verticals, help the company drive continuous improvement in the engineering environment itself, provide coaching and technicalleadership and help senior leadership with technical options and support business cases to help us move forward.Responsibilities:

  • Be an active contributor to the execution of Digital and Technology strategy, representing technology perspectives at a management and local board level through strong technical thought leadership and process-centric mindset.
  • Line manage, coach, and support the ongoing development of software team members (currently 12 permanent).
  • Help manage and maintain supplier relationships and consultancy initiatives
  • Own and evolve the architectural roadmap and software engineering process aligning with, and supporting the ongoing evolution of regional strategy
  • Promote continuous improvement mindset by executing incremental and ongoing improvements to the engineering environment, CI/CD Pipeline, infrastructure, and security driving productivity and waste reduction.
  • Drive cloud adoption through gaining agreement to embed new architectural patterns.
Skills:
  • Strong leadership, software architecture, and software development skills
  • Familiarity with new technologies and know where its appropriate to use them
  • Demonstrable experience in software development within a SaaS oriented development environment
  • Ability to think iteratively and in terms of architectural boundaries.
  • Domain-driven design experience - demonstrable ability to decompose problems and create opportunities to solve them in a sustainable manner.
  • Track record in delivering agile engineering of software.
  • Clear understanding and experience of DevSecOps, how to adapt and drive forward in product engineering teams.
  • Experience with working with microservices (we use Azure FaaS and .NET Core and are exploring wider into Serverless and AWS.)
