Job Description

SRM Recruitment are excited to be recruiting for an excellent Financial Controller position based near Birmingham. with an international specialist manufacturing business.PurposeTo design and drive the necessary processes regarding the Group’s management accounts, compliance environment and statutory requirements through:

  • maintaining strong internal controls and developing reporting processes for compliance with best practice;
  • ownership and accountability of financial transactions, accounting policies and internal controls; and
  • provision of high quality financial reports and information.
Key ResponsibilitiesAccounting
  • Prepare and present divisional, entity and consolidated Group management and statutory financial statements strictly within regulatory and internal timelines
  • Custodianship of all Group entities’ accounts and production of various consolidation scenarios
  • Ensure consolidated accounts are maintained in accordance with Group policies & IFRS
  • Maintain the Group’s accounting policy documentation and prepare communications on policy and IFRS updates for internal purposes
  • Ensure completeness of all balance sheet reconciliations completion and review
  • Update balance sheet carrying values with foreign exchange rate changes each month
  • Maintain a complete record of intercompany and related party balances ensuring full reconciliations and carrying values revision due to foreign exchange changes
  • Calculate and action recharge invoices on a quarterly basis
  • Lead and coach the accounting team in the day-to-day operation of their core activities
  • Improve core processes and implementation of best practices to enhance the control and compliance environment across all areas of the Group
  • Liaise with IT team to exploit BC functionality; migrate legacy system data; and establish efficient data extraction & interrogation capabilities
Reporting
  • Ensure consistency and accuracy of data feeding into MI and analytical reports
  • Prepare monthly cost centre accounts schedules with prior year and forecast comparatives
  • Present and review cost centre accounts schedules with budget owners to understand variance drivers and implications on future profitability and cash flow
  • Support FP&A and FBP teams with the review of dashboards, management accounts, board presentations, and other analysis.
Compliance & Taxation
  • Ensure Group wide compliance to local reporting, legal and tax requirements
  • Prepare, facilitate and lead the statutory audit processes and ensure deadlines are strictly adhered to
  • Own the necessary actions to adopt and enforce agreed recommendations from internal and external audit reports
  • Ensure all financial policies are understood by the business providing training as required
  • Liaise with external tax advisors and support the GFD with effective tax planning and reporting
  • Ensure the tax compliance matters are effectively dealt with
People Management
  • Manage the full employment cycle of direct reports
  • Undertake Personal Development Reviews (PDRs) in line with Group policy
  • Lead by example to support the Group Finance Director with establishing and maintaining a culture of continuous improvement across the finance function
  • Develop, coach and lead the accounting team with the day-to-day operation of their activities
General Support & Compliance· Support the Group Finance Director and Joint Managing Directors as required across the Group
  • Continually seek and drive improvements throughout the Finance function looking to optimise processes and present to the wider team
  • Participate in business projects as required
  • Adhere to Company and Customers’ Health and Safety and Security Policies
  • Comply with ISO 9001 standards and Company policies
