Job Description

Data Privacy & Governance Officer - GDPR. My client based just outside Solihull, Birmingham are looking for an Data Privacy & Governance Officer. Please note this role offers the option of WFH for 2 days after the initial settling in period has commenced.This role reports into the Information Security Manager providing guidance on all privacy related matters within the business. The primary purpose of the role is to assist the business with meeting its obligations to comply with data privacy laws, by providingrelevant stakeholders with practical data privacy advice, maintaining/developing the data privacy framework and ensuring data privacy procedures are adhered to. Additionally, this will be a supporting role to the Information Security function within the business.You must have/be:

  • At least 1 years work experience within a privacy related role.
  • Must have a very good working knowledge of GDPR, DPA 2018 and other related privacy laws/regulations.
  • Have a passion and enthusiasm for privacy and will be keen to establish a strong privacy culture throughout the organisation through advocacy, encouragement, support and collaboration.
  • Collaborative - Must work well with people.
  • Compliance/legal and information risk management background: with exposure to the broader aspects of privacy including information security, IT, ethics and incident management, HR, auditing etc.
Role includes:
  • Ensuring all Subject Access Requests are appropriately recorded, dealt with expediently and always within required timescales.
  • Logging and reporting all data security breaches, ensures escalation to the DPO, via the Information Security Manager.
  • Assist relevant stakeholders with carrying out Data Privacy Impact Assessments (DPIAs), providing guidance where necessary.
  • Assists stakeholders with guidance on completing Records of Processing Activities (ROPAs).
  • Ensures staff are periodically reminded of key privacy requirements to reduce the likelihood of a personal data breach.
  • Responds to data privacy queries as required (internal/external stakeholders)
  • Provide regular key performance indicator reports for data privacy.
  • Carries out assurance activities for policy compliance, reports instances of non-compliance to the Information Security Manager for action.
  • Provides support for third party supplier management / compliance with data protection, security and contractual requirements.
  • Routinely assesses components of the Data Privacy Framework to establish where improvements can be made.
  • Provide general data privacy support for the business and all relevant stakeholders when required to do so.
