Job Description

Control Room OperativeReporting to the Reporting ManagerBasedin: SolihullSalary: The salary banding starts from £36,500 but could be negotiable based on experience. Also the company offer a market leading benefits package and annual bonus.Position overview:As the Control Room Operator (CRO), you will be part of the Control Room Operations team reporting to the Control Room Supervisor working a 3-shift system Monday to Friday and providing weekend cover on a 12 hour basis in conjunction with a morning and afternoonshift when required. You will be the first line monitoring mechanism for the Operations team using the Control System to monitor engine plant parameters, reporting deviations and resetting alarms under permitted conditions on the UK portfolio power plant.You will also monitor the security alarm/CCTV systems across the portfolio and support an out of hours 3rd party monitoring company. You will be required to interact and communicate with the FieldService Engineers on topical items such as maintenance and test windows coupled with liaising with the commercial team where there are business opportunities to run the plant.During quieter periods, you will provide support to the operations team on other aspects of the team deliverables which include but not limited to organizing and reviewing documentation, sharing best practice and supporting the computerised maintenance managementsystem (CMMS).You will be expected to demonstrate the appropriate behaviours and commitment towards health and safety to ensure we maintain our first-class safety cultureKey responsibilities:

  • Comply to Health & Safety Legislation
  • Support and comply with Company Policies as documented in the Conditions of Employment Policies Manual
  • Diligent Monitoring of operational and commercial parameters
  • Notify commercial team of unplanned within day outages
  • Support the CMMS System
  • Documentation management
  • Creation of SOP and guides to support the business
  • Operate the assets according to the TRIAD plan
  • Key contact for National Grid monitoring STOR calls and any other commercial demands
  • During STOR, contact National Grid to confirm assets and enquire if additional support is required
  • Following the cease for a STOR, run sites in remote mode for a period of time or as required by the commercial team
  • Remotely Start & Stop sites
  • Produce a report detailing the shift and asset performance at the end of each shift
  • Monitor security systems
  • Co-ordinate FSEs in response to site issues using the vehicle tracker system to determine which FSE is best placed to provide the most efficient service
  • Out of hours notification of availability declarations to National Grid
Essential
  • Asset monitoring systems experience is required
  • Experience of internal and external reporting is essential
  • Competency with Microsoft Excel and Word is a must
  • Prior experience of the power generation industry would be ideal
  • Experience of gas reciprocating engines would be advantageous
  • A Full driving licence is required
  • Right to work in the UK is essential
Desirable
  • Experience of working in the energy sector, alongside a trading function, and the specific accounting issues related to the industry
  • Working knowledge of SAP an advantage.
This role requires an exceptional work ethic and a flexible approach to work shift patterns to meet the demands of our 24/7 Operations centre including availability to work rotating 12 hour shifts over the weekend and the ability to work with remote supportat off peak times.The Control Room Operator (CRO) will be able to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills and an eye for detail as well as the ability to manage multiple priorities and work autonomously.
