Job Description

BuyerLocation: Solihull, Birmingham Salary: Starting at £28,000 - £35,000 depending on experience and qualificationsThe Vacancy Come and join our Whale Family!We are looking for an Engineering Buyer to support the Purchasing Manager and wider SCM team to ensure that quality, cost and delivery is in line with business expectations and projects are controlled, monitored, measured and communicated effectively ina timely manner.Our ideal candidate will have previous experience in Supply Chain Management and has either a degree or CPS.Your main role responsibilities will be:

  • Negotiating with suppliers to agree prices, quantities, and delivery schedules
  • Working with inventory management team to ensure that all deliveries satisfy the assigned purchase orders and report any backorders or missing products
  • Manage and conclude day to day low level low impact prices increases.
  • Identify opportunity to rationalise supply chain in order to create leverage opportunity and to make the supply chain more efficient/manageable
  • Input prices and amend/update system data in a timely manner
  • Evaluate high volume parts numbers for medium/high spend suppliers i.e. interrogate. System data to confirm part status and estimated usage
  • Assist with the delivery of VA/VE activities and wider supply chain to resolve supply chain shortages
The successful candidate will have / be:
  • Degree / CIPS with previous experience of working within a SCM environment
  • Previous experience of being responsible for appropriate budgets / supplier relationships
  • Experience of using data analysis tools such as VLOOKUP, pivot tables and graphs
  • Competent in using Office software, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • A team player who is well organised with good communication skills and attention to detail
  • An entrepreneurial spirit and will not be afraid to challenge the norm
