Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Reapits Infrastructure team as a AWS Database Engineer.As an AWS Cloud Engineer, you will have look after RDBMS databases including maintenance, design, performance tuning, query optimization & troubleshootingResponsibilities

  • Monitoring system health and performance to ensure performance, availability, and security are at the highest possible level.
  • Provide support for critical production systems
  • Perform scheduled maintenance and support deployment activities after hours if required
  • Managing Database Proxies
  • Configuring, managing & maintaining, including performance testing, refactoring, and optimising MySQL Cluster across multiple product lifecycle environments, from development to production
  • Lead the upgrade and modernisation programme of works
  • Set and maintain database standards
  • Manage Database access
  • Sharing domain and technical expertise, providing technical mentorship and cross-training to team members and the broader IT team
  • Work with Infosec and IT Ops teams to establish patching and regular maintenance schedules where none exist
Requirements
  • In-depth knowledge of MySQL and SQL
  • 10+ years of RDBMS experience
  • 5+ years MySQL operational experience
  • 2+ years of experience with RDS Aurora MySQL
  • Familiar with Database Proxies, such as ProxySQL and RDSProxy
  • Knowledge of data processing paradigms such as ETL, ELT
  • Experience in database & SQL performance tuning is essential.
  • Solid experience in of MySQL 5.7 Replication, Backup, and restoration.
  • Understanding of basic Networking such as subnets
  • Preferably would have knowledge of AWS data products such as AWS DMS (Database Migration Service).
  • Personable and must be willing to go the extra mile to aid others
  • Ability to demonstrate a high level of overall IT skills and resilience including the ability to work effectively under pressure.
