Job Description

3rd Line Server Engineer O365 Windows Server Network Management Virtualisation Solihull / Hybrid £40,000 - £50,000 Applause IT are supporting a leading UK telecommunications business find an experienced, personable and progressive 3rd Line Server Engineer based in the West midlands. As part of the Engineering team, you will provide first class customer service and expertIT infrastructure support across servers and core applications including monitoring, backup, network, and databases. You will help ensure the availability of the internal business applications and service platforms for customers in the healthcare, blue lightand other public service industries.The 3rd Line Sever Engineer will have the following responsibilities:

  • Manage requests from internal and external customers via ServiceNow and customer portal
  • Manage interactions with customers via ServiceNow, email and phone, dealing professionally, accurately and courteously, resulting in a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Provide expert technical support to resolve IT faults, providing business hours support, and 24 x 7 on-call support for core IT platforms.
  • Complete advanced troubleshooting steps to identify the fault, and implement changes to resolve the incident, respecting the change process.
  • Design, plan, build, test and release core IT platform changes in line with engineering standards.
  • Provide a point of technical escalation to the engineering team, for relating to core IT platform (servers, core applications).
The 3rd Line Server Engineer will have experience that looks similar to the following:
  • 3 years + experience administering and implementing Windows server, client, and Linux operating systems.
  • Experience of Cloud technologies specifically Azure, O365 and virtualization specifically VMware.
  • Knowledge of database management and implementation for Windows and Linux operating systems.
  • Experience with system monitoring, management and backup systems.
  • Knowledge of WAN, LAN and WLAN networking and security
