Mechanical Assembly/ Technician Smethwick Up to £13.00 P/ hr doe The Position Support Technician - Responsible to support the overhaul all types of air ends, blowers and similar equipment as found in industrial and mobile air compressors. Workshop based; no outside work expected. Reporting Relationships The position reports to the Operations Manager of the business unit and close coordination with the Lead Technician. Responsibilities - Receipt, identification, inspection, evaluation and cleaning of incoming air ends, - Organisation of incoming and outgoing production with forklift and lifting gear, - Support dismantling, inspection and cleaning, - Paint, palletise, load and despatch as required, - Keeping workshop tidy and clean - Additional responsibilities (subject to incumbents skills), weld repair and fabrication, maintenance and repair of similar equipment. The Position Requirements - Support Technician Experience and skill set - The candidate must have some experience in an equipment service or machinery maintenance environment. Specific experience with air compressors, pumps or other rotating machinery would be beneficial. - Good level of overall mechanical training and aptitude, - Experience with basic workshop equipment, - Good understanding of mechanical equipment and how it works, - Experience working safely with heavy lifting and use of heat, - Welding experience not specifically required but a plus, - Ability to work and communicate well in a team environment, willingness to perform all workshop functions in support of customer and workshop requirements, This role would suit someone with an engineering apprentice, or experience with machining, welding or assembly.
