Job Description

Role Introduction The Senior Systems Engineer willworkas part of anoperationalteam thatdesign,deliversandsupportsspecificplatformsandtechnologies,both inthe cloudand on premise,as part ofthe widerange of Infrastructure,Security, M&A androadmapprojectstosupport the business needs and growth initiatives,ensuring all systems and related applications and infrastructure are supported and maintained to industry best practice and agreed standards.This role is suitable for a highly motivated, technically minded individual withexcellentcommunication and collaboration skills. As a senior member of the IT Team, you will need tobe able totake on a new projectfrom initial requestto final handoverto support; mappingout thehigh-levelstepsandprovidinga list of deliverables with a budget in mind; running a squad oftechniciansto deliver the project;andwriting supportingdocumentationready for handover to the supportteam. What you will do

  • Implementing solutions as part of our Roadmap delivery team, including designing, documenting,building,and supporting platforms to fulfil the business needs. This will alsomeanmanaging other team resources as part of that project delivery and regularreporting on progress, as well as handover of systems and processestothe wider IT teamto support in a phased and consistent manner. Createsupporting documentationto be wrapped around new systems in line with declared support criteria.
  • Systems maintenance and management - Ensuring all systems and hardware under Group IT support are being maintained in line with thresholds regularly, such as Windows updates, system restarts, HA failovers and general housekeeping.
  • System stability, availability improvements and housekeeping - Responsible for ensuring system are running stable and responsibly and formulate recommendations for improvements to the current systems and solutions to improve service availability.E.g.,buildingscripts to automate processes, reducing resource threshold where underused, altering Nagios to allow superior detection of issues.
  • Ensure compliance to relevant compliance standards (i.e.,ISO 27001, 9001) and security standards (i.e.,CIS, STIG) to help ensure we control, report and adequately measure and handle risks the business faces.
  • Where required, provide technical support, and take ownership of technical investigations into complex problems, continuing to work on them until a resolution or workaround can be implemented. Provide technical input and governance to the problem and updatestakeholders at regular intervals as the technical investigation continues.
What you will have
  • Self-motivated individual with the ability to work within an SLA driven environment, capabilitytoproblem solve whilst managing multiple tasks in a busy ITIL aligned service desk environment
  • Experience in supportingWindows Desktop Operating Systems and Office365 applications, including deployment and configuration
  • Experience insupportingMicrosoft Windows Servers,Networking, Active Directory Servicesandassociatedservicesincludingpatching,maintaining, andadministeringroles/features
  • A friendly, engaging and professionaldemeanorwithgoodcommunicationskills (bothverbal and written), able to operate at all levels and articulate messages to a variety of different audiences
  • Keen willingness to provide support to the wider Technical teamon other tasks as required to support the business needs and initiatives.
