Job Description

Programme Director 2/3 year FTCSloughWant to spearhead NFER’s e-assessment developments, driving and leading the e-assessment programme to deliver key capabilities and online services If so, come and join NFER as its Programme Director for eAssessment.NFER has a long-standing and market-leading reputation in assessment spanning more than 70 years. The organisation is fortunate to have some of the country’s leading technical assessment experts and psychometricians on its staff who are now turning their attention to further developing our e-assessment capability. In this role, you will spearhead NFER’s focus on transforming its approach to assessment, increasing our capability to support governments and schools globally to better understand, and respond to, children’s learning needs.Reporting to the Transformation Programme Director, you’ll own and oversee the e-assessment programme, supported by the Programme Board and a Programme Manager. You’ll have responsibility for running the project, leading the programme delivery team comprised of the Workstream Leads and Programme Manager, and ensuring that each of the workstreams is on track and in line with the budget, schedule of spend, milestones and deliverables.You’ll be the interface between programme ownership and delivery and act as a focal point between the business and the Programme Board with delegated responsibility to deliver the e-assessment programme primarily via a ring-fenced, dedicated team but also drawing on the extensive expertise across the Foundation.You’ll own and champion e-assessment developments for the organisation, ensuring that the desired programme outcomes and objectives are delivered.Benefits:- Competitive salary with generous pension scheme- 42 days per year comprising 30 days’ holiday, four additional discretionary days, in addition to bank holidays- Positive working culture that promotes a good work/life balance- Easy access to major transport hubs including London Heathrow, good links with Paddington and Waterloo, and close to Windsor with free parking- Excellent support for professional development from a network of fellow researchersRequirements:- Evidenced ability to deliver, with strong programme management skills- Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences- Ability to be successful in a fast-paced environment, prioritising and managing complex projects- Knowledge and understanding of recognised interoperable standards such as QTI, LTI and Caliper Analytics- Understanding of financial concepts and experience in budget management- Ability to take a strategic view but also challenge the detail if required- Ability to learn and assimilate technical information quickly- Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional teams without direct authority- Ability to deliver initiatives from conception through to completion on time, within budget, and on or beyond scope- Understanding of the importance of data security- Experience of education/assessment technology and/or experience with a technology/software business is preferredOther organisations may call this role Education Programme Director, eAssessment Programme Director, or Senior Programme Manager.If you have an interest in EdTech and its potential to transform education and/or experience in a digital assessment environment and/or social research and analysis and the associated operational processes, we’d be keen to hear from you.NFER is a not-for-profit organisation and an equal opportunities employer, welcoming applications from all sections of the community.The closing date for applications is on midnight Sunday 6th September 2020.
