Job Description

Group Financial ControllerReporting to the Group CFO SloughAre you a technically strong and ambitious finance leaderExperienced in providing a strong control & compliance experience from a multi-entity businessThis successful and growing (c £200m) multi-entity business services client with global operations are seeking an aspirational Group Financial Controller. Responsible for timely, accurate and complete management accounts to managers and budget holders. Youwill provide the leadership and ownership / accountability of processing financial transactions, accounting, reporting, financial systems and internal controls.Duties:Provide an appropriate control and compliance environment to effectively manage risk ensuring the timely and accurate production of financial information. Maintain a financial infrastructure to protect the Groups assets and constrain both contingent andnon-contingent liabilitiesReporting and audit

  • Set timetables to produce routine reports so that they are produced for the relevant deadlines
  • Supervise the production of accounts and reports by the management accounts team
  • Deliver monthly group financial information by division, by warehouse
  • Support FP&A and Business Partnering teams with the preparation and review of scorecards, dashboards, management accounts, board presentations, transparency reporting and other analysis. Follow up and resolve issues so that they are ready for the CFO reviewwithin the relevant timetable
  • Update reports for changes in the business and improvements in presentation
  • Attend quarterly Audit & Finance committee meetings and take the minutes
  • Take responsibility for the audit deliverables prepared for the external audit by the team and providing explanations to the auditors
  • Prepare Group and subsidiary company financial statements
Budgeting & forecasting
  • Ensure that managers and budget holders receive management accounts in line with the agreed timetable
  • Support the development of forecasts, plans and budgets and provide meaningful analysis of variances.
  • Attend budget meetings with the management accountant and monitor follow up actions
Accounting
  • Ensure all financial policies are understood by the team and followed as they relate to financial transactions. Identify exceptions for reporting
  • Manage the controllership team in the day-to-day operation of their core activities
  • Improve quality of earnings through the reduction of accrued monthly revenues and enhanced credit control
  • Review payment runs ahead of release for payment
  • Administrators on all bank accounts
  • Review all balance sheet reconciliations and salary reconciliation prepared by the team
  • Review all intra & intercompany reconciliations and recharges
  • Deliver consolidated group accounts
Reporting and audit

  • Liaise with external tax advisors and support the CFO with effective tax planning
  • Review all VAT returns and EC sales lists and ensure they are submitted on time
  • Review year end corporation tax packs for all companies
Other
  • Manage, motivate and coach the team
  • Monitor team liaison with other financial team and across all business functions
  • Provide finance and compliance training as needed by the business
Profile
  • Qualified accountant
  • Strong IT proficiency. System and systems integration/implementation experience preferred
  • Ability to provide meaningful management accounting reports and analysis
  • Ability to prepare financial statements
  • Proven ability to manage projects and deadlines
  • Proven ability to manage and motivate teams (upto 20 direct and indirect)
  • Highly organised, dependable and accountable
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to requirements
  • Ability to focus on detailed analysis as well as high level summary reporting
  • Effective communicator
  • Excellent problem solving capabilities
