Job Description

The Management Accountant plays a critical role in the company and is responsible for providing financial reporting and analytical support to the Head of Finance, particularly in relation to the Projects side of the business.Attributes required:

  • Methodical and commercial mindset.
  • Excellent eye for detail and knowledge of accountancy regulations.
  • Ability to discuss financial issues with non-finance staff.
  • Contribute to the strategic direction of the company from a financial perspective.
  • This role would suit someone with an audit background who is able to analyse and report on figures at a high level.
Job role:Key Accountabilities:
  • Monitor, understand and add value to the financial analysis of projects across the business.
  • Cost Value reconciliation data and Margin analysis on a monthly basis.
  • Contribute to annual budget process alongside Head of Finance.
  • Contribute to forecast process alongside Head of Finance.
  • Contribute towards development of long-term financial plan alongside Head of Finance (3-5 years).
  • Contribute to the compilation and analysis of the monthly financial results of the business and all associated commentary for relevant stakeholders (management & Board).
  • Develop, maintain, and ensure accuracy of project cash flow forecast for both 13 week and rolling 12 months.
  • Maintain detailed monthly balance sheet reconciliations for project related balance sheet accounts including WIP and retentions.
  • Building strong working relationships across the business to aid understanding of project finance and to provide context to financial performance.
  • Act as a trusted, visible, and accessible point of contact to business leaders; providing financial information to support decision making.
  • Other finance related activities as directed by the Head of Finance.
Skills / Competencies:Core
  • Knowledge of Sage line50 or similar Accounting software packages
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office packages
  • Commercially astute
  • Qualified (AAT/CIMA/ACCA) or QBE
Desirable (but not essential)
  • Experience within the Construction industry

  • Self motivated with keen eye for detail
  • To work such hours as are deemed reasonable and necessary to fulfil the requirement of the role
Full Time - Monday to Friday
