Job Description

Job title: Laboratory Analyst Salary Range: £14.00 - £16.00 per hour Umbrella/Ltd Hours: 37.5-hour week Location: Thames, London 12-month contract working for a client who are the worlds largest refiner of cane sugar. A Laboratory Analyst is required with knowledge of analytical work on development and technical projects through the stage gate process, on a timely basis, to meet the expectations of customers. Knowledge of GLP, handling of potentially dangerous chemicals, stocktaking and ordering of essential consumables through internal SAP systems.Candidates with knowledge of HPLC/IC and ICP and colour, microscopy analysis would be well received.Due to Maternity leave this client based in Thames, London requires a dynamic, leading Laboratory Analyst on a 12-month contract basis. As a Laboratory Analyst, you will be required to:

  • Be a member of the R&T Department
  • Function to predominantly assist the Laboratory Manager and work as an analytical R&T team in the efforts of the Department to achieve strategic objectives and proactively implement projects for the technical and commercial development of new processes and technology.
  • Safety ensure safe operation in consideration of new product, equipment and process development by deploying suitable disciplines and procedures such as risk assessments and COSHH.
  • Analytical work: HPLC, IC and ICP as well as colour and microscopy measurements.
  • Team Works closely with other members of the R&T Department, NPD Team and QC/ASR production managers as necessary to ensure activities are aligned with the business needs.
  • The Laboratory Analyst should have the following skills or experience:
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent preferably in Chemistry or relevant Analytical discipline
  • Analytical work (HPLC/IC and ICP and colour, microscopy analysis)
  • Knowledge of GLP
  • Handling of potentially dangerous chemicals
  • Stocktaking and ordering of essential consumables through internal SAP system
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Skilled in planning and executing multiple activities.
  • Good knowledge of analytical discipline
  • Financial / Commercial awareness.
  • High capability in Microsoft Office
