Job SummaryPractice Plus Group Hospital, Shepton Mallet is a purely elective care hospital, focusing on orthopaedics, ophthalmology, general surgery, ENT, urology and gynaecology. We are looking for an enthusiastic Optometrist to join our team. Supported by a very robust Clinical Governance process, Practice Plus Group Hospital, Shepton Mallet is the first independent sector hospital to have been rated Outstanding on all five domains by the CQC (2017). This means that you can be sure you are part of a team providing safe, reliable and patient-focused care.About the roleReporting to our Lead Consultant Ophthalmologist, you will be part of a small, forward-looking department with the latest ophthalmic equipment, including IOL Master 700, Heidelberg OCT and the latest edition Humphrey Visual Field Analyser. Specialist areas offered include cataract surgery pathways, glaucoma assessment and treatment pathways and we are currently developing age related macular degeneration pathways. Working within the surgical outpatient clinics, you will organise and undertake pre-operative assessments including specialised biometry and ophthalmic measures of patients. You will evaluate patients’ suitability to undergo cataract surgery and identify the appropriate course of treatment most suited to their individual requirements. You will also participate in the routine follow-up clinical pathway.
