Sheffield Teaching Hospitals is one of the country’s largest Trusts incorporating five acute adult hospitals providing secondary and tertiary services to patients throughout North Trent and Yorkshire. We employ around 15,000 staff and provide around one million patient episodes each year, making us the second largest NHS trust in England. In addition to providing hospital services for our local population, our hospitals provide a range of vital regional (including cardiac and orthopaedic surgery, neurology and renal) and national specialties (including pulmonary hypertension treatment, particular ophthalmology, spinal and neurosurgical care, and specialist cancer treatments). The trust provides a wide range of invasive and non-invasive cardiac investigations. Due to expansion in Cardiology Diagnostic Services at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals and the recent recruitment of additional Imaging Consultants we have vacancies for AFC Band 6 Clinical Physiologists to undertake a specialised training programme in Echocardiography.STH offer a high intensity, focused Echo training programme and are extremely keen to recruit physiologists with a desire to train, develop and become an expert in this field. You will have the opportunity to work alongside a very established and experienced team who are absolutely committed and dedicated to training.Ideally you will have a basic theory knowledge and practical experience in Echocardiography. The Echocardiography department provides a routine TTE outpatient and inpatient service across two sites, Northern General Hospital and Royal Hallamshire Hospital.Specialised services include Contrast, Bubble, Adult congenital, Heart Failure, Pulmonary Hypertension, Post-op Valve and TOE (including 3D TOE).Interested applicants should possess appropriate Cardiology qualifications including BSc in Clinical Physiology and hold RCCP or AHCS registration. Applications from candidates currently working towards BSE accreditation are welcome to apply. The successful candidate will have experience working within non-invasive Cardiology and are expected to continue supporting this field whilst undertaking the Echo training programme. You will participate and attend a weekly Echo Quality Assurance meeting in attendance with Echocardiography colleagues and medical consultants where caseloads are reviewed. You will also contribute to service improvements through audit and maintain standards throughout the diagnostic service. It is essential you are highly motivated with a willingness to learn, have excellent organisational skills and are a strong team player. You will work to provide a high standard of patient care.On completion of BSE accreditation there will be opportunities to develop skills in specialist areas and we are actively developing and working towards the introduction of physiologist led services. We support specialist clinics working closely with consultant colleagues, some of which include the adult congenital heart clinic, heart failure and pulmonary hypertension clinic. We are committed to professional development and you will be encouraged to attain further academic and professional qualifications. For further details / informal visits contact:NameJane MackayJob titleEcho LeadTelephone number
