Drive continuous improvement into the Technical area. Lead a team of metallurgists.Main Duties and Responsibilities Lead Technical teamo Fully accountable for Leading, motivating, coaching and developing individual team members with implementation of a strong succession plan through documented One to Ones, documented meetings, formal appraisals and personal training and development plans ensuringappropriate matrices are updatedo Maintenance of a healthy and safe working environment ensuring adherence to all Company and legislative requirementso Responsible for all departmental communicationso Responsible for ensuring all day to day people related tasks are fully documented and being carried on time and effectively e.g. Return to work interviews etco Responsible for managing Employee Relations within the team in a timely and accurate manner including any disciplinary and grievance hearings and performance managemento Accountable for control of holiday requests within own team Manage all transactional Metallurgical matters Primary point of contact for customers concerning technicalissues Provide technological expertise and support to manufacturing and commercial functions Develop product improvement projects and bring to successful conclusion utilising the full resources of SMPSkills, Experience & Qualifications Minimum Batchelors Degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, or equivalent A minimum of 10 years experience in a relevant industrial environment with significant demonstrable management experienceEssential Requirements An excellent understanding of the physical metallurgy of steels and nickel base alloys An excellent understanding of International and/or OEM specifications and standards such as NADCAP and SABRE Industrial experience in products related to aerospace, oil & gas, power generation Experience of consumable electrode remelting and hot working processes would be advantageous Demonstrable management of a team including metrics and performance management Demonstrable product development/improvement successes in the metals industryQualities & Attributes Exemplary communication skills - both verbally and in writing and at all levels both inside and outside the company Ability to develop strong, successful relationships with internal contacts & customers Excellent problem resolution and logical reasoning abilities Highly motivational leadership and change management skills Significant demonstrated experience of leading complex, multi-functional projectsThe role also includes a bonus paid quarterly as well pension and private health care.
