Job Description

A remote based Techincal Buyerrequired for my client, a global leader in the design and manufacture ofelectro-mechanical pumping solutions for a range of industries.The Buyer will be responsible to manage and maintain effective and productive supplier relationships, specifically within the Castings commodity group. To ensure timely and cost-effective material availability that allow the Company and the Business Unitsachieve their Goals and Objectives.Key Accountabilities and responsibilities of the Technical Buyer:

  • Identify, select and manage an international supply chain within the Castings commodity group; ensuring that the selected suppliers meet and exceed expectations with respect to Company and Business Unit financial, quality and customer service metrics.
  • Conduct supplier assessments and audits in order to establish and maintain a robust and reliable supply chain.Create and maintain quote files for all standard items and negotiate price reductions, extended payment terms and discounts in line with departmentalKPIs and maintain detailed records.
  • In line with Business Unit requirements, establish replenishment methodology, inventory management, and logistics that support continuous improvement in On Time Delivery performance and reduction in defect rates.
  • Action NCRs in line with company procedures; actively work to reduce incidents of NCRs, through close co-operation and collaboration with the QA Department.
  • For Project based materials, prepare and issue RFQs, place or amend purchase orders in line with the authorisation procedures and record savings or report potential budgetary overspends (prior to orders being placed).
  • Analyse and negotiate proposed supplier price increases / quotations in line with agreed procedures.
  • Review and assess MRP demands on a daily basis.
Experience and Skills of the Technical Buyer:
  • Appropriate Purchasing / Supply Chain Management experienceideally in a Foundry / Castings environment.
  • Previous experience of conducting supplier audits, and manging supplier performance to achieve sustained On Time Delivery and Quality improvements.
  • Demonstrable experience of managing complex projects and ability to work under pressure.
  • Excellent presentation skills and demonstrable ability to negotiate at all levels up to MD / Owner level and professionally navigate successful outcomes
  • Ability to work within defined budgets and Company processes, policies and procedures.
  • Experience of SAP or similar MRP / ERP applications
