Did you know that up to 50% of people who have COVID-19 have no symptoms at allAt present, those people would be unable to book a COVID test as the testing capacity and focus has been on symptomatic testing. These people would be going about their day to day lives, shopping in supermarkets, potentially going to work and be unknowingly putting others at risk. That is all about to change.Throughout England, the government have asked councils to set up asymptomatic testing centres allowing anyone to book a COVID test and obtain a result in as little as 30 minutes. Through doing so, it’s the intention to drive down infection rates and outbreaks by quickly identifying those that have COVID but don’t have symptoms and asking those individuals and their close contacts to isolate. This will drive down infection rates and support getting Britain back to normality as quickly as possible, something we are all keen to happen in a safe and controlled way.Sheffield Council are in the process of setting up their first, asymptomatic testing centre and are looking for a Team Leader to lead the operational team.The team leader will have responsibility for opening and closing the site, managing health and safety and managing stock. You’ll have 16 test site operatives reporting to you covering the full range of required duties including but not limited to; queue management, ensuring attendees follow covid safe compliance, providing swabbing guidance, prepping samples and receiving and recording results.The ideal applicant will have had previous management experience in an events, retail, leisure, hospitality or another customer facing, customer centric industry. You will have a good grasp of rigour and control ensuring strict COVID compliance policies and procedures are adhered to by both staff and the public and will be confident taking the lead in diffusing escalating situations.For the right person, this is an outstanding opportunity to make a measured difference in the fight against COVID.
