Job Description

Tax Investigations ConsultantThe RoleAre you a Tax Senior seeking a new challengeOur client is a leading tax investigations specialist, dealing with HMRC enquiry and dispute resolution work, including complex tax fraud enquiries.Due to extensive growth, the business is looking to invest in the appointment of a tax professional (personal or corporate) who wishes to train and hone their skills as a Tax Investigations Consultant.The business will provide full training and support in all areas of Tax InvestigationsDuties and ResponsibilitiesAs disputes/investigations/risk can include a wide variety of issues, the work will be varied and interesting and will include:

  • Supporting clients with HMRC enquiries, investigations and disputes
  • Working on codes of Practice 8 and 9 Investigations
  • Voluntary disclosures
  • Tax appeals
  • Tax Tribunal representation
  • Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR)
  • Construction Industry Scheme
  • National Minimum Wage
  • IR35 and employment status
  • Schedule 36 information notices
  • Transfer of liabilities to directors
  • Conduct forensic accounting work
Skills and QualitiesThe role is open to anyone with a minimum of 3 years UK tax experience (Corporate or Personal), individuals who have completed CTA/ACA/ACCA/ATT would be a bonus, but qualification is not a requirement for the role.Applicants will have strong communications skills, an ability to challenge, coupled with the ability to work well under pressureStrong written skills are also a pre request, ideally with the ability to write detailed reports/documents.The position is based in Sheffield, although travel around the UK will occasionally be required, therefore applicants must have access to their own vehicle.What youll get in return Youll enjoy a competitive salary and a flexible benefits package designed to meet your individual needs, along with ongoing salary reviews and discretionary bonuses.
