Job Description

My client are a leading steel market analysis company, specialising in independently researched global steel prices, indices, and forecasts.To support the development and growth of the company we are looking to recruit a Steel Pricing Analyst and Forecaster, based in our Sheffield office. This is a key role in the company. We are looking for you to enhance our analytical capabilities.Main responsibilities to include some or all of the following:

  • Monitor and report on steel market trends and prices. Analyse results and provide forecasts information for inclusion within clint publications.
  • Analysis and forecasting of steelmaking raw materials - iron ore, coking coal, steel scrap and other steelmaking input costs.
  • Apply and develop the forecasting models for steel prices in a variety of countries and regions across the world.
  • Analysis and forecasting of steel production, trade and consumption data.
  • Collection, input and analysis of statistical and economic data.
  • Develop a deep insight of the economic, financial and political influences affecting the global steel market.
  • Monitor and analyse the forecast database to ensure forecast accuracy is maximised.
  • The potential to contribute to the writing of publications, online commentaries, and news articles.
  • Attend conferences and events when necessary.
  • Skill set required:
  • A degree in a numerical subject is required.
  • Previous relevant experience in a similar role - including data collection and analysis, writing reports and communicating your findings verbally.
  • Proven analytical skills - ability to analyse large amounts of data and identify trends and key drivers.
  • The ability to convey your analytical findings verbally and in writing to a wide variety of audiences.
  • Must have a keen attention to detail.
  • The ability to analyse and understand the different dynamics in numerous steel markets across the world.
  • Knowledge of the steel or commodities markets would be essential, ideally with a minimum of 2 years in a similar role.
  • Fluent in English - both written and spoken.
  • Excellent systems skills including strong levels of MS Excel. Ability to manipulate data on Excel, producing pivot tables, graphs and using advanced formulas.
  • Good organisation and time management skills.
  • Able to prioritise workload and work to strict deadlines.
  • An ability to work independently and on your own initiative as well as being a good team player.
  • Candidates must have the right to live and work in the UK.
