Job Description

Job Title: Speech and Language TherapistGrade:Band 7Trust: Sheffield Childrens NHS Foundation TrustLocation: Flockton House, S11 9EFHours: Monday to Friday 9.00 - 17.00 (Flexible)Pay rate: From £23.52Do you have a passion for working with children Do you have evidence-based experience as a Speech and Language Therapist and are looking for flexible working opportunities Sheffield Childrens Hospital is currently providing these opportunities through an exciting placement opportunity Flockton House.The Trust is delighted to offer the opportunity for an experienced, enthusiastic, and highly motivated individual to join their Team. The post holder will work within the paediatric service, providing specialist communication and dysphagia assessment, therapyand support to a caseload of children and young people with a range of diagnoses, including autism, learning disability, physical disability and complex needs.To be successful in applying for this role you will need:

  • HCPC Registration
  • Degree in Speech and Language Therapy
  • Dysphagia trained, or willing to undertake dysphagia training if not already trained.
  • Experience in working with autistic children and young people and those with learning disability and complex additional needs
Role Details:
  • To assess, develop and implement highly specialistspeech and language therapy treatment independently.
  • To develop appropriate communication targets and evaluate therapy outcomes.
  • To provide assessment and advice in dysphagia management, including training for school staff and parents in safe eating and drinking.
  • To be flexible in working with a range of other professionals from other health and education departments.
  • To manage a highly complex and highly specialist caseload independently, involving effective liaison and prioritising appropriately
  • To provide highly specialist clinical/technical skills for interpretative assessment techniques and interventions.
  • To demonstrate highly developed negotiation and problem solving skills, including around highly complex case management, including patient advocacy and ethical decision making.
