Please note that we will be conducting interviews on an ongoing basis.About the Role:We are searching for a C++ Software Engineer / Developer to join our Durability and Reliability Centre of Excellence in the UK. The global team comprises of a mix of Software and Test Engineers generally located around Sheffield, UK; Tucson, USA; and Chennai, India. The role can be based anywhere in the UK and we encourage flexible home working.The successful candidate will join the team responsible for the development of our nCode GlyphWorks product. This is a powerful data processing system for performing durability analysis and other insightful tasks such as digital signal processing (filters, statistics, FFT, etc.). The software also allows users to implement additional functionality by providing their own python scripts. Designed to handle huge amounts of data, GlyphWorks provides a graphical, process-oriented environment with leading analysis capabilities for saving both time and money in environmental qualification and product validation. It is supported on both Windows and Linux.Responsibilities:• Provide software enhancement and defect coding.• Write high quality and well documented source-code to within deadlines.• Collaborate with members of the team to develop software specifications for new functionality.• Understand the product and customer requirements so that they can be coded to new features.• Write high quality and well documented source-code to program complete applications within deadlines.• Creation of documents to support design, specification, and product management activities.• Develop technical documentation to accurately represent application design, use and code implementation.• Participate in the technical support process for software issues experienced by customers.• Liaison with other departments, including support and sales as required.• Make recommendations to resolve technical, strategic and organisational issues.• Be an integral part of the Scaled Agile process and participate fully within this framework, including the daily scrum meeting, planning, retrospective, etc.About You:Essential Requirements• Proven experience in the use of C++ and object-oriented methods (we will consider graduate applications)• A STEM (Scientific, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) engineering degree or higher• Excellent written and verbal communication skills• Flexible attitude, ability to perform under pressure• Attention to detail and a commitment to quality and a thorough approach to work• Ability to work well within a teamDesirable / non-essential skills and experience• Proven experience in a similar role• Development experience of the Qt framework for the creation of cross-platform applications.• Knowledge of Linux.• Knowledge of mechanical engineering, strain gauge applications, vibration or fatigue analysis would be an advantage.• Knowledge in signal processing.We Offer:The job will provide you with an opportunity to further your career alongside some of the best and most passionate technology experts from around the world in a leading company within the test and measurement industry.
