Job Description

We currently have a permanent and full time Shift Team Leader opportunity available, with a well-established and reputable Steel Metal Fabricator company based in Sheffield. Our client is a long-established company, who are one of the leaders in design and manufacturer of Stainless-Steel building products and produce a wide range of components from support systems, fixings, flooring and access equipment.In this hands on manufacturing role, the main duties are to drive health and safety, continuous improvements, plan, coach, co-ordinate, and lead a team of production operators with diverse skill set requirements in a in a safe organised, tidy and efficientmanner to manufacture range of bespoke and standard products in line with customer demand.You will be required to competently set and operate a range of metal forming, pressing equipment and undertake assembly tasks.Working Hours:Rotating shift pattern AM 06:00-15:00 to PM 13:00-22:00Salary:From £27,000 to £29,000 per annum dependant on experienceKey Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Effectively co-ordinate and plan team members, tasks and materials to maximise productivity and meet changing customer demands
  • Motivate, lead, develop and challenge a flexible and competent team and ensure individuals reach the required competence levels to perform at a high standard
  • Promote an environment of continuous improvement through application of regular continuous improvement projects including lean principles, VSMs, 5S and SMED within all activities
  • Establish clear, tangible and challenging production targets, monitor performance and continuously improve
  • Enforce all safe working procedures, practices, rules, regulations and instructions given
  • Ensure work levels are performed to appropriate standards first time and QA procedures are adhere to
  • Control working hours of all employees and maintain discipline within the Company terms & conditions and disciplinary procedures
  • Conduct safety audits, risk assessments, safety tours safety briefs and employee engagement meetings
  • Communicate key business information, deliver tool box talks and facility improvement meetings
  • Provide production support and advice to production engineers and be a key team member on projects such as establish new manufacturing cells and developing improvement techniques
  • Conducting return to work interviews and handling investigatory in line with company policies.
  • Liaise with other departments, shifts and areas of the business to focus on customer demands and production efficiencies
  • Competently set and operate a range of metal forming, pressing equipment and assembly tasks
Essential:
  • Proven experience in working safely, identifying risks and being directly involved in raising safety and housekeeping standards
  • Possess sound mechanical awareness / engineering knowledge
  • Experience of leading a team in a manufacturing environment
  • Proven Leadership qualities with and ILM or similar Supervisory Certificate or proven experience to that level
  • Is hard working, driven, very efficient at planning, prioritising and completing tasks
  • Experience of setting and working to targets, monitoring performance, giving feedback and dealing with issues in a timely manner
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Ability to train/coach
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels
  • Capable of building a motivated team
  • Ability to positively deal with change at short notice and work calmly under pressure
  • Identify and proactively resolve issues in a timely manner with minimum support
  • Can demonstrate and has a proven track record of Lean Manufacturing Techniques / 5s and looks to improve everyday tasks
  • Possess Good H&S awareness
